MAQ AB
MAQ was founded by a group of people with the dream to simplify machining by removing vibration. MAQ is based on the idea of reducing vibration in machining processes. It all began when Dr. Qilin Fu was a doctoral student at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He studied the effects of vibration on machining and realized the technology needed improvement. Qilin proceeded to investigate different systems and materials he could apply to the problem. MAQ was founded in 2017. Qilin reached a breakthrough in 2015 with the use of polymers. The following year, Qilin and his partners Mihai Nicolescu and Amir Rashid applied for a patent. MAQ was later founded and the name came from a combination of the first names of the co-founders.
The MAQ anti-vibration cutting tools for machining with the self-tuning mass damper technology is included in all MAQ cutting tools.

Cutter heads
MAQ offers different SL adapters (Cutter heads) like SDUCR, SDUCL, STFCR, STFCL, SCLCR, SCLCL, PDUNR, PTFNR, PCLNR, SL Blanks Left Hand, and SL Blanks Right Hand. They are continually adding new cutter heads to their inventory. This video demonstrates the MAQ Turning tool STMD M25-430 product, at 16xD setup. The machined workpiece material is 4340 alloyed steel with HRC 28-30 and a SDUCR 25 cutter head is used with a insert of DCMT 11T304 P25C. |

Milling
MAQ’s vibration damped milling tools have multiple backends selections and diameters in 25, 32, 38, 47.5, and 60 mm. All tool holders include our self-tuning mass damper technology.
This video demonstrates the MAQ STMD M25-205 XDMT 2T shoulder milling against the current market leader's product. The MAQ tool is optimized in the design and demonstrates a critical depth of cut limit at 2 mm, versus 1 mm from the competitor product, in a full slot milling operation. In the demonstration, MAQ have applied spindle speed ramping from 2500 RPM to 3950 RPM to test the tool's performance over a wide spindle speed range. With the MAQ tool, you will be able to cut at least 2x faster than what you are using today! |
