Micro Tools
Telcon is among the very few manufacturers to produce micro PCD tools. There are two groups of tools: Micro diamond drills and Micro PCD end-mills. The machining is carried out utilizing highly sophisticated technology to achieve very accurate and fine cutting edge. The PCD micro drills, ranging from 0.3mm, are used for instance in semiconductors for drilling very tough materials like monocrystalline silicone and Quartz. The PCD micro end-mills, ranging down from 0.6mm, are used for machining of hard ceramic materials which are common in the semiconductors, due to their highest purity, such as Zirconia, Quartz, Single crystal silicon, Al2O3 and SiC. |
Diamond End Mills
Telcon Diamond manufactures diamond cutting tools solutions for machining of all composite materials. One of the first operations done on a composite material part, after it is taken out of the Autoclave, is trimming or edging. Telcon manufacturers many options for this application. Among the diamond end mill offering, you can find 2 flute PCD end mills for general machining of CFRP parts, slotting, grooving and edging. In addition, high performance PCD spiral end-mills for high stock removal rates and prolonged tool life with extremely smooth cut and burr free results, utilized, for example, in trimming the openings in an airplane fuselage. The PCD ball-nose end-mill is suitable to create 3D surfaces in composite material parts, where an accurate profile is required and cannot be made during material layup. Additional milling options are CVD routers, for various applications in composite materials, carbon fiber or glass fibers. The CVD routers, are used where reducing delamination is crucial or when the workpiece thickness is thin. By design, the CVD router can be used for lower machine loads and under dry or wet conditions. |
PCD Drills
Telcon Diamond manufactures many cutting tool solutions for machining of composite materials. One of the successful series of products is the diamond drill bit, known as a PCD Drill. With and without coolant thru holes, these drills have added flexibility with improved geometry and can drill a wide range of composite materials including CFRP & CFRP/Stack materials. These drills are used also in the automotive industry – Aluminum with high Silicon applications. Telcon’s diamond drills are made from superior PCD diamond grades and are available with 4 or 8 facets and can also be made to print. Standard sizes begin from 2mm (.08″). Additional dimensions are available on request. All PCD drills can be reconditioned several times. Telcon’s PCD drills are performing successfully and continuously at major aerospace customers in a variety of different applications.
